Obstacle
# 1 proved to be a tough one. This obstacle had two different challenging
sections to it. The first section consisted of rocks that had nice
"little" holes in front of them. These rocks were also placed to be
just wrong for the wheelbase of a YJ and CJ. The second section was a nasty
little hill climb out of a ravine. There was a very, very tight 90 degree turn
out of the valley onto the hill. The hill was covered with very loose dirt and
shell. The course changed as each competitor negotiated it. The first section
seemed to get harder and the second section seemed to get easier. Only
two competitors made it up the final hill climb. Scot Hornby actually climbed
the hill, but hit the exit gate causing him to point out. And Bobby Holt opted
to winch up the hill to finish the course with 39 points. Bobby was the
only one to complete the course without pointing out.
